Fall in Saint John is one hell of a show, and Rockwood Park has the best seats in the house. For Alexandre and Briar’s Rockwood Park engagement photos, we wandered around with the cameras until the light looked good, which in fall is pretty much always.
These two made my job stupid easy. Lots of laughing, lots of goofing off, zero stiff posing. We hit a tree-lined path with benches and leaves everywhere, then the rocks by the pond, where they danced and hopped around with the orange maples behind them. Rocks and water can be a risky combo, but they handled it like pros.
I’d love to take credit for the golden light on the water, but I can’t. I did put them in front of it though, so I’m counting that as a win. We grabbed a wooden boardwalk for a few quiet moments and snuck into a forest trail where the ferns did half the work. Also, both of them showed up in black like they were about to infiltrate something, and it looked damn good against all that fall colour.
Congrats, Alex and Briar, and thanks for a great session! If you’re planning an engagement session or a wedding in Saint John or anywhere in New Brunswick, check out my wedding and engagement portfolio, then hit me up with your date and what you’re picturing and we’ll make it happen. Wear comfy shoes. There are rocks.

Rockwood Park is about 2,200 acres of lakes, forest, rock formations and trails, and it’s right in the middle of Saint John. Yeah, in the city.
One park, tons of different looks. Rocky pond shorelines. A lakeside boardwalk. Quiet forest trails. You never have to leave the park to change scenery.
Late September to mid-October is usually peak fall colour. The hour before sunset is when the light on the water goes absolutely unreal.
Thinking about Rockwood Park engagement photos of your own? Good call. You get a pond, a boardwalk and a quiet trail in one session, and nobody has to drive across town. The park’s website has maps and trail info if you want to scout ahead (I’m not mad if you do).
Alexandre and Briar’s session covered a tree-lined path, the rocks by a pond, a wooden boardwalk and a forest trail, all in one visit. That’s exactly why the park is so good for a fall engagement session. Here’s what I tell every couple before they head out:
I shoot engagement sessions and weddings in Saint John and all across New Brunswick. Want Rockwood Park engagement photos of your own? send me a message with your date and what you’re picturing, and let’s chat. Not ready yet? Poke around the blog for more sessions and weddings first. No pressure, no pitch.
